what happened is the feds became a recruitment arm for the cyber state.

if you were a hacker, you were coerced into serving gov interests, or you went 
to prison.

it doesn't take many years of determined persecution to drain a group of 
cohesion and momentum.

(what's worse is many hackers gladly jumped on uncle sam's dick, happy to 
snitch and crime for country...)
