"Settings"? You mean Program-settings? Delete or rename the file ~/.config/darktable/darktablerc > eg by deleting directories? Directories with pictures? Deleted in the filesystem or only removed from Darktable? Deleting directories is more then "settings". Restore the deleted directories from a backup.
