l that switches the collection to folder
view and opens the folder of the selected image.
That is what I was missing.

he buttons in the "selected images"
and "history stack" etc. panels could also be located in a context
menu...? And a couple of other things could be located in a main menu...

discussed here...
As the discussion initially was about the timestamp that is shown in the
copy dialog, I can tell you that at this time no exif information
is read. It's only the file timestamp.

your side in linux with the stat command. That should print out the
different timestamps including the zone offset.
But if they really differ, than I'm not sure if this can be read out in
dt at all.. (and in a platform independent way)
