Maybe if you have blown highlights, you should avoid increasing the
exposure, and use the tone curve, zones or some other module to brighten
dark parts? Or mask the exposure correction?

DT 2.0.5 on arch
I just reprocessed an older image from LR5.7 and the DT the
highlights are clipped: the neck and the tail. There are lot more
details in the LR (left)
