I am using darktable 4.0.1 under Linux Mint 21 and having no difficulty
with the hover-over working properly to bring up the full file path. I
don't use the color picker, so I can't help you there.

In the instances of darktable 4.0.1 and 4.1.0 which I can run, mouse
hover in dt 4.0.1 under Mint 21 - for example in the full path entry
