You could set his repository as a new origin and change to his branch.
But looking in insight/network you see its not synchronized with
darktable/master.
I'd wait for the merge.

Since I'm quite ignorant when it comes to branches, how can i merge
your new stuff with my local version of darktable, which is built
daily from source? Any magic one-line git command I can add?

Yep! Despite having added the DMC-G7 entry in the mil-panasonic.xml file,
in the correction module the camera is still not present...
