I was reading the thread "Since 2.6 blend options ignored for presets?"
today. It is pointing to presets not normally migrated from 2.4 to 2.6
After installing 2.6.1 today and seeing that the collection module
presets were still not working - I applied the same approach - delete

there have been sporadic reports of this issue before. As a quick fix
you can go into ~/.config/darktable/darktablerc and manually delete all
lines starting with "plugins/lighttable/collect/".
When you start darktable again you once again see all your images but
