Please have a look at:

There you should be able to modify all paths. Just write a small shell script or batch file for starting dt.

would depend on the size of your ssd and the other limits you place upon
your filesystem. I have a 128G ssd and have ~/.config/darktable and
~/.cache/darktable on it with all of my operating system.

I guess that depends and you have not provided any parameters or desires.
