Re: [datameet] White Paper on Data Protection framework for India - Public Comments invited White Paper on Data Protection framework for India - Public Comments invited

2017-12-17 Thread srinivas kodali
We will need to reply to the whitepaper. Some of the major concerns I have
with the paper are penalties on data publications. Some of the work members
of Datameet do on opening up government data is important, the challenge
however is if new data laws will be used to threaten anyone from
downloading and sharing of opendata.

There is a chapter on exemptions to people whose work involves data like
journalists, academics. I think the exemptions need to be made for
data-sets by classifying them to any individual and not few people in a
society. Anyone should be allowed to download, share and use public data.

While there are lot of others issues like redaction of sensitive
information in public records which needs to be highlighted, as we do find
lot of information in court documents and First Information Reports.

[datameet] GeoHYD: Mapping Hyderabad Public Transport in Realtime Using Open Data

2017-12-17 Thread srinivas kodali
Do Din (http://2017.do-din.org/) is a two day community driven urban

With one phase of Hyderabad Metro launching, we now have three modes of

building a Multi-Modal Real-Time Transit Trip Planner for TSRTC city buses
and MMTS, Hyderabad Metro. A sample video of what of we are going to build
is available on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ds3T_vrS6ck

The meetup is primarily to understand Hyderabad's transport infrastructure,
limitations and its challenges across modes. Programming Skills: We will be
use using JavaScript along with leaflet.js, it is really straight forward
and simple for anyone to make this real-time map. Whatever your background
is, you are encouraged to attend it.

• What to bring
Laptop with a simple notepad tool like NotePad++ or SublimeText

Re: [datameet] Ward Boundary of Jaipur on openstreetmaps

2017-12-17 Thread Devdatta Tengshe
If you have scraped then from a site, OSM will not accept that data, as it
will not meet their sourcing requirements.

I'll suggest that you can add it here:
https://github.com/datameet/Municipal_Spatial_Data

If you need help putting the data on GitHub, let me know.

Devdatta
