IMD gridded dataset is of 0.25 degree spatial resolutio (large area). The
temperature values would be the same for minor differences in coordinate
values.

[datameet] Daily AQI Bulletins 2015-2023

2024-03-29 Thread Dammalapati Sai Krishna
Hi air quality and climate researchers,

CPCB releases daily AQI Bulletins data. You can find this data for each
city from 2015 to 2023 on this page - Link https://github.com/urbanemissions-info/AQI_bulletins>.

The CSV file contains (available) day-wise city-average AQI value, AQI
category, and conditional pollutant information and the image is a calendar
plot of the AQI values, along with the average number of stations reporting
AQI value in each year.

Github repo for parsing CPCB PDF bulletins is here: Link

Re: [datameet] Issue on using imdlib package with rasterstats to calculate zonal statistics

2023-09-07 Thread Dammalapati Sai Krishna
Hi Nikhil!

I remember having a correspondence with you about imdlib last year.

I am fetching the rainfall data - but in the raster formal.

data = imd.get_data(
var_type='rain',
start_yr=year,
end_yr=year,
fn_format='yearwise',
file_dir=DATA_FOLDER
)

This downloads the rainfall data in .grd format. Later I convert it into
.tif
data.to_geotiff(
'{}.tif'.format(year),
TIFF_DATA_FOLDER
)

Faced issues with the affine transformation of this raster. Solved it for
my need. But curious to know if there is a standard or not in defining
affine transformation. Never faced this issue with other raster images.

[datameet] Issue on using imdlib package with rasterstats to calculate zonal statistics

2023-09-07 Thread Dammalapati Sai Krishna
Hi,

This question is for people who have worked on Python's imdlib package.

The rasters downloaded using imdlib has the following affine transformation:
0.25, 0.00, 66.38
0.00, *0.25*, *6.38*
0.00, 0.00, 1.00

If I'm not wrong, the general standard is to define the pixel height in
negative with top-left bounding box coordinates as X,Y. At least, the
images downloaded from GEE follow that format.

But in the array above you can see (in bold blue) that the pixel height is
specified in the positive. And the bottom-left bounding box coordinates are
specified (bold red).

The issue I faced with this is that when I try to calculate zonal
statistics using *rasterstats*, the positive height becomes a problem
(negative dimensions error). I changed the transformation matrix and
flipped the array to be able to run zonal stats.

Want to know if there is a standard in defining affine transformation
matrix and if imdlib is not using that.

Thanks!

[datameet] Open Data on State Capacity

2022-09-03 Thread Dammalapati Sai Krishna
Hello Datameet members,

I have been trying to put together data on *State Capacity*, especially at
the state-government level. The data on this is sparse, available across
multiple State Budgets, Pay Commission reports of various governments
etc.,.

As a preliminary datasheet I've created this Google Sheet - Link
<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pdigax9FmEYghC2drjPVRmR0BjgHoy1qsojtNuKtx5Y/edit?usp=sharing>
- which has the following data points:
1. Statewise police-public ratio.
2. Statewise Govt Allopathic Doctors.
3. Statewise Government servants strength.
4. International comparison of Wage Bill (as % of GDP)
5. International comparison of Wage Bill (as % of public expenditure)

The Sheet is open to comment to all to recieve feedback on any corrections
and new sources of data. Please reach out to me if anyone is interested in
further building this database.

[datameet] Re: Residential houses, Apartment, Commercial and Malls in any AOI through OSM

2022-07-14 Thread Dammalapati Sai Krishna
Hi Ravi,
1. Use this link to extract the required data from OSM:
http://overpass-turbo.eu/
2. You might have to understand what tags are used on OSM associated with
the data you are interested with. This link should help you with
discovering those tags: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tags. Just
search with natural language and you'll find a bunch of tags that you will
have to use in the first link.
3. If you can code, then Overpass also has an API. This is a good
introduction to how you can use this API to programatically extract data.

Hope it helps!

Sai Krishna

[datameet] Mission Antyodaya 2020 Survey - GP Level Score Cards - WebCrawler.

2021-05-06 Thread Dammalapati Sai Krishna
Hello, data geeks,

I was working on a research project and required village level
developmental indicators. I could not find Mission Antyodaya 2020
 Gram
Panchayat score cards dataset, so I wrote a web-crawler that does the job.
Sharing the code hoping it would be useful to other researchers -
WebScraping/WebCrawling_MissionAntyodaya.ipynb
at master · d-saikrishna/WebScraping (github.com)

I wrote the code to extract data state-wise. One can easily change it to
the All-India level if need be.

Best,
Sai Krishna
