[datameet] Domestic Violence

2020-09-18 Thread Prk
Hi,

Has anyone compiled National Crime Records Bureau data?
I am looking for domestic violence data. Also, if anyone is aware of
another survey or data source where I may not face issue of
under-reporting, I would appreciate it.

Thank you
Regards,
Purnima

[datameet] State GDP data

2020-05-07 Thread Prk
Hi all,

I am sorry if this comes across as stupid but I have a basic question.

I am trying to get relief/real(GDP) variable ranging 1990-2014. I
downloaded the state GDP data but realise that it is given by different
base year (2011-2012, 2004-05,1999-2000,1993-94,1980-81). I need a long run
series of state income.

(1) What is the best way to splice/rebase this data? Do I change the to
base year closet to the 1990 or the latest?

(2) Also, for those of you who may have worked on this data for research
purposes - there was a recent (in 2018) GDP data row regarding rebasing of
GDP? To my understanding this is a practice globally and has been done in
India as well. Was this just a political row or did it have any academic
consequences too?

Thanks in advance
Regards,
Purnima

Re: [datameet] Re: Food Security data - Public Distribution System

2020-04-29 Thread Prk
Hi Daniel,

Thank you for this.

This bulletin does not mention distributed amount explicitly but it does
mention Allocation and off take by states. I may be wrong but I think
offtake is indeed what is distributed by the government. I will recheck
this nonetheless.

The online reports do go back till 2009. I am working on a dataset
currently but I will start putting them in excel afterwards.
In case you or anyone else already have it, it would be great to share with
all.

Thanks
Regards,
Purnima

[datameet] IMD data

2020-04-28 Thread Prk
Hi everyone,

IMD publishes a report "Disastrous Weather Events"

Their description mentions that this report is available from 1967-2016.
However, the links only refer to 2013-2016 reports. Does anyone know if
these are available in public domain or with IMD only? Has anyone collected
this data?

Unfortunately the person I was in touch with in IMD has retired so if
anyone knows anything about these, it would be appreciated.

P.S. the link also has some other interesting data - might be worth a visit
for some people.

Thank you
Regards,
Purnima

[datameet] Drought data

2020-02-21 Thread Prk
Hi,

This is a long shot but does I need to know damage caused by droughts in
monetary terms. States calculate this for floods but I am not sure if this
is done for drought. Or if anyone knows where I may find a method to do the
same. I would really appreciate it.

Thank you

Purnima

[datameet] Local Body election data

2019-06-07 Thread Prk
Hi,

Does anyone know any data on either Gram Panchayat elections or the Nagar
Palika elections?
Ideally I was looking for these for Odisha, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Kerala,
Karnataka, Gujarat and Karnataka. Since this is collected by each State's
election body, I have been only able to find it for a few states (on their
website) but only for the last election held. Further, some of them are in
local languages and pdf formats.

I am altering my research given the lack of data and was wondering if
anyone knows any data for these elections. I need a minimum of 2 election
cycles.

Any data source for any state of India would be appreciated.

Thank you

Regards,
Purnima

[datameet] Local Body Election Data

2019-06-04 Thread Prk
Hi,

I am looking for local body election (Gram Panchayat, Zilla Parishad)
results data for 1993-2014 period.
I know state election commissions are incharge of conducting these
elections and publishing the results but most state websites have data for
only the latest election cycle. Does anyone know of any data which has
historical data in English for these results.

Thank you
Regards,
Purnima
