Its incredibly difficult to answer your question because the answer is a 
deeply personal one. Instead of embarking on some long diatribe, I will 
simply encourage you to do your own research to find a set of resources 
that work for you.  

Understandably the lecture videos provided by Prof Bangerth are focussed on 
teaching FEM by means of deal.II, so it is somewhat focussed on this. If 
they are insufficient for your purposes, I'm sure that there are a 
multitude of options ranging from online courses with notes and videos to 
alternative choices for textbooks that are better suited to your background 
and current level of knowledge.
