None of the apple products will beep. Also know that you need to set up EFI booting correctly, which is tricky. I'd help you with some pointers but I always have to remind myself of how it works too. It doesn't help that the Debian docs are really old. Let me know if you get stuck and I can write out a bit of a guide that's up to date. Best, --FC

Hello, Note that you need to select the graphical boot entry in order to get speech support. Beeping might not be supported on the mac mini, but if it's grub, the "s" shortcut should be working. Samuel
Mac mini 2014 will not show Debian installer grub menu.
Wonder if anyone else has seen this before and knows a way to get speakup running with out the menu. I have tried editing the grub.cfg file and adding the string speakup.synth=soft to the regular install options as well as text install. I have gotten to this menu that says Debian installer main menu. Choose the next step in the install process. I think I saw something related to changing voice speed, but nothing talks. I got it working once, but I have no idea what made it work. When the mac boots to the installer it seems to show this splash screen that only says Debian 12, no beeps or menu options appear. I got this with OCR. Pressing enter starts the install, however, I noticed a kernel panic will sometimes occur while booting. Thanks.
