I don't want to download and install the next kernel when it is released.
If I comment out the sid respository entries in the apt.sources file

do you think the final kernel could be 2.6.25?
even without the bttv module?
that will be a shame...
2.6.25 don't solve ide issues (DVD) in my old ASUS A8V Deluxe... to
burn CD/DVD I use 2.6.23 :-(
and the lack of bttv

Dear folks,
My laptop (hp G6062EA) seems to have upgraded to the latest kernel
debian:/home/mikef# uname -r
2.6.25-2-amd64
I tried to redo the kernel modification etc to reinstall nvidia drivers.
Things seemed to work OK until I got to the m-a auto-install nvidia part.

OK, I did it. Here is the output:

Updated infos about 1 packages
Getting source for kernel version: 2.6.25-2-amd64
Kernel headers available in /lib/modules/2.6.25-2-amd64/build

There is no 'nv' subdir in the current version. Only 169.12-1 had the
nv subdir and it doens't work with 2.6.25. Get the current version of
the packages first. 169.12-3 or 169.12-4 (whichever we are now at).
Thanks, I got the new packages and I now have the nvidia card working again.
you should mark nvidia + kernel package to HOLD in aptitude (pres '='
on the package)...
I strongly suggest to use aptitude to upgrade packages...
