Are you sure that ssh is configured to accept root logins with a
password? I'm not sure how Debian is configured by default. Try
logging in as a regular use

It pings OK and asks for a password in response to the SSH [EMAIL PROTECTED]
tried ssh -v but didn't really understand the output except that it could
not authenticate using rsh or dsh
I suppose that's because it doesn't know my key yet.
Will restart in linux and look at the log
