solution to boot the previous kernel ?
Copy /boot/uImage.bak to /boot/uImage and /boot/uInitrd.bak to /boot/uInitrd

My kernel was recently updated with aptitude.
Do you remember to which version it was updated? I don't see a new
version in squeeze.

for the
kirkwood. I actually need a kernel version later than 2.6.30.xx
since the driver for my wireless USB stick (RTL8187 based) now
claims to support Master mode. Any hints on getting the plug to load
and boot into that kernel?
Yeah, run:
flash-kernel 2.6.32-trunk-kirkwood
and reboot.

far as mounting /.

before, with the same result: rc8 works,
2.6.32-trunk-kirkwood doesn't work anymore :-/
I just tried 2.6.32-trunk-kirkwood on my TS-419P and it boots just
fine.
Can you try the bootlogd trick documented at

haven't tested 2.6.32-1 yet but I don't see why it shouldn't work
(especially given that rc8 worked). Can you try the 2.6.32-1 from the
Debian archive? If it doesn't work, I'll take a look.

flash-kernel expects the kernel to end in -kirkwood. Rename
2.6.32-rc8 to 2.6.32-rc8-kirkwood and it should work.
