Shouldn't the tulip driver in the sparc discs be compiled in the kernel
and not as a module? Netra X1 needs the tulip driver.

IMO we should just remove the message. The message was added when
debootstrap wasn't quite as bug-free as it is today. Perhaps a note
in the installation manual can replace this text?
