You could try if passing a vga=X parameter that match the native resolutio

I tested etch r0 and lenny beta1 on a HP Compaq 2510p notebook.
With etch, I saw the following issues:
- Nothing shows up when you boot the installer. fb=false is required
- netcfg shows the firewire device as eth0 and for the real Ethernet
device it only show
