I have selected 'oldstabel' (=wheezy) during installation (expert mode).
Used RAID1 for Debian installation:

      19514240 blocks super 1.2 [3/3] [UUU]
The system is able to boot from any (active) disk which has been tested by removing two active disks before boot several times (the spare disk is than used for recovery).
The systems works fine ...
