Thanks, I'll see what I can do about that. From all information I could
get out of others reporting similar problems it seems to be a kernel crash
rather than mac-fdisk failing. I've not been able to reproduce this on my
Lombard but I've always been using my own kernels so far.

Most of the reports were from people using Pismo and later laptop models
so they must all have been using the IDE disk. It would help a lot if
someone could reproduce this with an external disk (like SCSI, Firewire,
USB) ....
