Hi there.
While digging through d-i, I've noticed some signs of ppc64 port
(which was, as far as I remember, a heroic attempt to make a 64-bit
userland Debian port).
Do we actually need it and is anybody going to support/maintain it?

I've now committed this patch too, with a few minor modifications:
- there were some changes in pkg-lists recently for powerpc (no more
separate files for powerpc64);
- I've removed the "subarch" level in the config dir as ppc64 does
not have any subarches.

Hello,
the attached patch adds support for the native ppc64 port to the
linux-kernel-di-powerpc-2.6 package.
The patch adds an additional line for the native ppc64 kernel
to the 'kernel-versions' file.
Hello Andreas,
It took a while to release Beta 3, but we should now try to do add support
for ppc64 as soon as possible.

Hello Andreas,
We have discussed including the ppc64 port again during the d-i IRC
meeting last Saturday. I am happy to let you know that we've decided to
add support in the d-i repository, with the following conditions:
* the d-i team will not maintain ppc64 data
* ppc64 will not be al

There is currently no cross-installer for amd64 as far as I know.
There is not even a 64-bit kernel flavor in the i386 repository.

The ppc64 kernels are almost exactly the same as the powerpc64 kernels.
I had to change the package names from linux-image-*-powerpc64 to

I tried to make a minimal change to the 32-bit installer which gave an
extra '--arch ppc64' parameter to the debootstrap command. I also tried
to implement an extra menu to select between the powerpc and the ppc64
port on 64-bit machines.

Frans Pop kindly asked me to collect all the necessary ppc64/d-i
