Woops. It appears my netboot environment (managed by the foreman which is great) didn't recognize the update from 7.6 to 7.7. So it failed to update the kernel provided by the tftp server and therefore it was loading an out-of-date kernel. So when the 7.6 kernel tried to load up-to-date modules
