I have now installed debian squeeze on a small partition without X so
the install won't take so long.
The problem is still there.

It would be nice if it didnt Conflict: with debconf (debconf-2.0) because no one needs such problems
early in install.
Cant it run side-by-side debconf (ie, user can theoretically run either) ? It's easy to make side
by side apps but i know: sometimes not.

Take a look at debian/rules for some variables you need to set to build
for squeeze, like: USE_UDEBS_FROM=squeeze

the install fails
