The log suggests that flash-kernel was installed successfully, i.e.
that a u-boot boot script was generated correctly.

I don't know anything about this device so unfortunately I cannot help
you. Maybe Vagrant Cascadian knows something?

If anything needs my attention before/during pu freeze, I'd welcome the
17th as well.

Of those, 17th/18th would be preferable too.

We seem to have converged on these two. The 10th is doable, but means
freezing over the coming weekend and I'm not sure how much time I'll
have between now and then, so I'm tempted to opt for the 17th and get
the announcement out ASAP.

Last minute comments, thoughts, confirmations, etc. welcome.

Now please answer some questions.

For starters on the working (installed) computer:

* Shows `lspci -v -s 00:19.0` indeed the Network Interface Card?
  ( are we quering the right PCI slot? )

* What is the output of `lspci -n -s 00:19.0`

* `/sbin/modinfo e1000e` gives many numbers.
  Do you see numbers from output of `lspci -n -s 00:19.0`?
  If not, provide the whole output of `/sbin/modinfo e1000e`

* Output of `uname -a`

Next is booting with Debian-Installer 8.5.
The request is *booting* with the installer.
(there is *no need* to install the system again)
Go to a shell in d-i ( ALT-F2 )

* Output of `uname -a`

* Shows `modinfo e1000e` numbers of `lspci -n -s 00:19.0`?

Some more requests

* keep 835...@bugs.debian.org in the loop

* in line quoting

Good research. From the provided information I think the problem
is debian-installer using a different kernel as it installs.

8.5 installer DHCP problem

2016-08-29 Thread Kaarnijoki
Hi there!

I hope i am writing to the right people. I have had a problem with debian 8.5
installer. The network is not being configured. Automatic DHCP configuration is
failing and I cannot get network mirrors working with manual configuration.
Googling the problem, it seems that the installer is not recognising the
network card that i have, or has no drivers for it. The installed system does,
however configures the network no problem.

I have been running Debian 8.1 and the installer for that was able to get
network working automatically. Thing is, I would like to have a live installer
on a USB stick as a backup-plan. Is there any way around this, please? Below:
output for  lspci -v

Many thanks! Force be with you.

Pasi
