Here's a small set of changes which adds support for the
sparc64 architecture. It basically clones the scripts

Users have reported that the generated netboot images for sparc64 won't

The attached patch addresses that.

Hi!
Performed an installation on an Apple iBook G4 A1133 which I was recently
donated for doing hardware tests for Debian's powerpc port. I used a sid
debian-installer image generated by the Jenkins job Steve Chamberlain
has set up [1].
I simply

Another issue I observed is that suspend doesn't seem to work reliably,
suspending works when the lid is closed. However, the machine doesn't
wake up again upon opening the lid again.

tries in the BTS are more than welcome.
A backport isn't necessary in this case, I think, as we currently
only provide unstable installation images for sparc64.

virtual serial console device is the standard console provided to any
LDOM virtual machine [1].
We have also observed the issue with QEMU when using the "-nographic"
option and enabling a serial console.

a completely different mechanism?
There is nothing special about sparc64 in this regard.

Do you mean that d-i is always booting with "console=ttyS0"?

some potential of things breaking.
Of course, these issues should be fixed and I will file a bug report
on the problem. I just meant that varying the optimization levels
is not something that you can expect to work in 100% of the cases.

archived similar to the ones above.
So I think there's no reason for the d-i team to also archive them, or
move them to salsa.
Are the archived repositories publicly available?

, but ISTR net-retriever was only able
to perform installations from a single source, and I had to implement
merging Packages files from stable and stable-backports, which I don't
see in your proposed patch.
I agree, that would be a sensible thing to do first.

am bug report and add the URL
with the "forwarded" keyword to this bug report. It would then be highly
appreciated if you could add the workaround with the gcc bug report
referenced to the debian/rules file for the time being until the gcc
bug has been fixed.

That's fine. But software has to adjust for the needs of 99.99% of its
users and not to 5 people who have an exotic usecase.
