deprecated. Please apply the attached patch, which removes the symlink
creation code from the packages' postinsts (debian/dev.postinst did
nothing else, so it can be removed).
Since it's a bug to create /usr/doc symlinks now, rather than fixing the
nasty non-XSI /usr/doc symlink code, please just remove it.

Sure. It will be added to the next version.

Since it's also a bug to create /usr/doc links anymore, why not just fix
both issues at once with the use of some dd's in vim? :-) Thanks.

Since it's now a bug to make /usr/doc symlinks, why not solve two
problems at once by just removing the code? Thanks.

Since it's a bug anyway to create /usr/doc symlinks now, why not fix oth
bugs at once by just removing the obsolete code? Thanks.

Ever since the update of libc6 to 2.3.5, I get the following log entries

Right now, the daemon name is thrown away, after a short check for the
pidfile. Using the binary name would allow start-stop-daemon to look
for instances of a daemon in cases where there is no pidfile.
Changing:
if [ ! $pidfile ]; then
Instead of fixing it to be all XSI compatabile and shiny, you should
have removed the /usr/doc link code. It is currently a bug to have
/usr/doc links so I am repurposing this bug report for that.
