to it but now we have a "grave" bug that nobody has an environment to
reproduce it in.

The NT_STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND bug is caused by tar's smbclient.
adding temporarily 'unstable' to the apt sources and upgrading samba-common
did the trick here.
