Because it's the correct way to handle the flags. CFLAGS are for

Dear Maintainer,
The CPPFLAGS hardening flags are missing because CMake ignores
them by default.
The following patch fixes the issue by adding them to
CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS. For more hardening information please have a

I noticed that NVIDIA had released 295.33 on 2012-03-22 so I removed all
the Debian packages and installed the downloaded NVIDIA run file. It
seemed to work for a while but then I got a spontaneous X termination --
i.e. a forced termination of my login session. GDM3 restarted with the

So tmpfs still causes problems, no one thought of.
Well, that is not quite accurate that no-one thought of it. If one
want to store large files, use /var/tmp/, not /tmp/. /tmp/ is not a

The major flaw in Roger's reasoning in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=630615#50
is that he does not consider the straight-line default install.
That default is to make one large filesystem for /, with only a small
additional partition for swap (and in some cases one for /boot).
