"Jessie" amd64 Standard" CDROM, the 9990-misc-helpers.sh script is dispatched
before the /sys/block directory is populated, resulting in a multiple copies of
the disturbing message:

Yes, I think you are correct: only libstd sources are needed,
which are about 3 MiB.

I noticed that this also affected my pbuilder instances. Assuming a file
system corruption when the existing image started to fail with "segfault in
method http", I then discovered that debootstrap of wheezy won't work, and
crash in mysterious ways.

Apologies for my long delay in dealing with these bugs, both reported by
halfdog. Fixes turned out to be quite complicated, since in part they
involved unwinding incorrect logic from nearly 20 years ago and ensuring
that everything else built on that was appropriately adjusted.
