I should add that I'm not running away because maintaining metche is
particularly troublesome: it is pretty stable software, does its
intended job pretty well, hasn't bitrotted, and does not require much
maintenance work (maybe 4-12 hours a year).

Dear Jörg,
thanks for your reply. I totally agree that this is not a severe bug
because a) the Debian build system calls the autoconf tools
automatically and b) a "normal user" can call them manually. The
severity was likely set by the "reportbug" program which I have used for
the first time.

Hi Matthias,
Thanks for reporting this issue. I've forwarded it upstream.
It looks like mapbox-geometry 1.0.0 caused this issue.
If it breaks more packages I may revert it back to 0.9.3, otherwise
we'll just have to do without node-mapnik in testing.

I think I am responsible for this dangling symlink :)
The issue is that the symlink target is _not_ in the 'rust-doc' package,
but in the 'gdb-doc' package which has nothing to do with the rust src
package, nor the rust maintainers. Moving the rust-gdb symlink into
gdb-doc is not appropriate.
