Is libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0-bin installed?
I had the very same problem and installing it solved it for me.
My (uneducated) guess is that libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0-bin was part of the
libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 package in former releases, whereas its now split and a
package on its own.

I can use java or flash to gather information. It's still information
