I tried this out when updating the python-urllib3 package to the latest
upstream release.
With a few minor changes, I was able to get this working under python 2
and python 3.

python3-sklearn and python3-sklearn-lib are in unstable now, so this is
pretty much fixed.
The python 3 packages currently recommend some python 2 packages, I have

[1], I was able to solve this on my system. For your information I have
this in my vte folder:

And all but termcap have xterm in them.
This is the command I used as root.

The general reason for the error was that dpkg was not dealing with the
diversions for the symlinks in the way it should have been doing.
