just installed Debian Sarge (replacing SuSE) and wrote my first data cd-r
using cdrecord.
The warnings that cdrecord emits at the start (something about "Linux-2.6.8
introduced incompatible interface" and "there are unsettled issues with
Linux-2.5 and newer.") made me worry but every

I'm running an out-of-the-box Debian "sarge" installation. It comes with udev
support. I did not select it. I guess, udev is installed by default.
Now I installed the isdnutils* and ipppd packages.
Running "isdnctrl list all" gives the error
Can't open /dev/isdnctrl or /dev/isdn

I can reproduce this on a Debian "sarge".
How I came across this bug:
Using useradd to add an account for use with "vsftpd".
Consequences:
As the shell field in /etc/passwd was empty, "vsftp" did not allow this new
user to log in because its shell was not listed in /etc/shells.
Workaround:
To f
timed out!
So I can confirm this bug for Windows XP :-(
Workaround:
Mounting the XP machine using cifs
mount -t cifs -o username=daniel //javascript/freigabe /win
does cure the problem.
