This is fixed in upstream testing branch 1.2
Current stable branch 1.1 doesn't have the fix
Kind regards,

Hi Mechtilde,
I fixed this upstream. No extra translation necessary as all of these
phrases are already translated in Qt4. But those translation wasn't set
up correctly.

Just downgraded severity to important as here is no progress on new
upstream version. Its not worth that this will block at least v1.1.6 for
all others...

All of this has been fixed upstream couple releases ago.
Example user-callback scripts can be found in

I guess you've tried to backup to a remote Samba share which wasn't
configured to allow symlinks. This is by default disabled
in /etc/smb.conf because it's a security issue.
You could either mount the remote share with NFS instead of SMB or use
the SSH mode from Back in Time.

With 1.1 series I already removed gnome dependencies completely. Back in
Time now comes with only one Qt4 GUI instead of both Gnome and KDE GUI.
But version 1.0.36 in Debian repository is quite outdated again. Current
upstream version is 1.1.6

I neither understand why backintime was removed because of this.
But this bug is caused by missing /bin/mountpoint which is part of
package initscripts. Just installing 'apt-get install initscripts' will
fix this.
I didn't thought about initscript would become non standard some day

Here are two more dependencies, which are missing:

Great to see some progress in here! I already found some missing
dependencies for new version and I'm sure I can help on couple more
problems with this update. I'll report back in couple days.
