This issue is fixed for me after an update to: 4.9.0-6-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.82-1+deb9u3 (2018-03-02) x86_64 GNU/Linux

I can confirm this. I have the exact same symptoms as Frederik describes. I'm on a Thinkpad T450s with two external monitors connected through an Ultra Dock.
