Do you have an example package that fails to build because of memory exhaustion
of the linker? Then we could check the build logs on powerpc to see if any of
the packages are affected.

laborate on the issue a bit more? I'm not sure how Debian is
responsible for
problems in other distributions. I don't see any other mentioning of Debian in
the

above have different issues and need to be
fixed separately.
To update the symbols file, the easiest way is to use the helper utilities
by the Qt/KDE team [1].

Ah, this makes a lot of sense. Thanks for catching this. I guess, I'll
file a bug report upstream then.

, although I have
not run through the whole testsuite yet to confirm everything is okay.
But in any case, disabling gm2 on ia64 fixes the build error.
Could you add ia64 to m2_no_archs in debian/rules.defs?
Attaching a patch which achieves that.

ve it to Recommends as this will still result
of git-man being installed on any regular system but the installation
will not fail if the package is not available.
Recommends is basically a Depends that can be turned off with "--no-recommends"
which is exactly what the buildds are using.
bian Ports buildds which, for example, cannot build rustc
at the moment because git is no installable [2].

not, because the latter matches substrings and hence will match
architectures that you didn't mean to match. That's my point.
And I think it's probably a good idea to check all occurrences
of "findstring" in debian/rules to make sure that it really
matches the strings

Emphasis mine.
You want to use "filter" when looking for architectures, not "findstring"
which will match "ppc64" in "ppc64el".

x27;s probably a good idea to check other instances of "findstring" in
debian/rules
and make sure it does not match on undesired substrings.

I don't think so. It builds fine on ia64 after all.
I think it's more related to recent changes in libglvnd, see:
I'll try a give-back on one of the buildds.
https://lists.debian.org/debian-arm/2019/12/msg00017.html
Did you try adding libgl1-dev to Build-Depends in debian/control?
It pretty much looks like the development files for OpenGL are missing
and the linker is complaining it can't find libGL to link against.
