I think this is a more recent regression than that bug report, which was
filed against python3-venv-3.5.1-2. The package python3-venv 3.6.4-1
works fine, but not python3-venv-3.6.5-3.

See below the KRB5_TRACE file (domains/realms cleaned up). It could well be
DNS, but other programs (e.g. dig) respond correctly and recognize when the
network comes back up.
