I have the same problem. VSZ seems to grow indefinitely. Just now I
moved the restart script from cron.daily to cron.hourly.

This seems to cause havoc with (note the space after the headers):
Content-Type: text/html\r\n\r\n
Downgrading to libapache-mod-fcgid-1.06 fixes the issue.
