Package: upgrade-reports Severity: important After updating from a working 6.0.0 standard version to 6.0.1 booting ends in a total black screen just illuminated by its backlight. Trying to change from x to any tty does not work. Looks like x-server is not working correct with the Intel 855GM graphics adapter on notebook.
Using the standard recovery grub entry does end in the same situation without any possibility to change anything or any readable error message or checkbox. Seems as if the x-server does not really crash but ends in black. Computer is accessible by SSH and x-forwarding works! Same happens on another notebook (identical in construction) and another with this graphic chip after restarting after a successful new installation using the net-iso-image. Using a older DVD-ISO without network connection for install results in a working system - updating this to 6.0.1 kills it in the same way. Its likely its related to a known bug with the intel-drivers other distributions had some times ago based on x-server-org incompatibility and new kernel setting. Maybe releated to the "i915.modeset" and "KMS" Problems there around a year ago. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.1 APT prefers squeeze-updates APT policy: (500, 'squeeze-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
