The reason for this is OpenSSL 1.0.1 being incapable of validating
cross-signed certificates, or multiple chains respectively where one
chain ends up being invalid. That latter is the case now because of the
Thawte removal in the latest ca-certificates update. We're affected by
this as well and
While at it, this package should probably also contain the following
symlink for all software that doesn't use mysql_config and just expects
the headers in the "usual" place:
/usr/include/mysql -> /usr/include/mariadb

I can confirm that the provided firmware fixes the problem on my
machine. Its current uptime reached 5 hrs so far using a vanilla
2.6.27.6 i686 kernel (iwlagn driver).
