Hello Erik,
I am closing this bug report since it looks to be reported twice by
mistake. The progress of this issue should be followed at bug #572762.

reassign 571035 linux-2.6
thanks
Hello,
I am reassigning this issue to the kernel package but I do believe a
new test on this should be done since many issues has been fixed on
2.6.32 after last try.

Hello Herbert,
This boot failure of LVM above RAID looks to be a GRUB issue; I am
unsure if this has been fixed or not so I am copying Colin on the
message for he give his feedback on this when possible.

disk or little ram in the machine only?
What about we clean it by default and let it be disabled using a
preseed? So Debian-Edu could preserve the old behaviour just setting
false to a template?

loud if I got something wrong ...)
what package is this, which version will fix it?
This is debian-installer-netboot-images that is at SVN. Take a look on it.
I am waiting for FTP Masters to give an ack on this to me to upload i t.

packages to provide the symbols and shlibs files. The later gives the
wrong information since it is hardcoded to 2.16 while 2.17 is the
newest one. The right solution from my POV is to use the symbols only
and drop the shlibs.

? Can the protocol be changed?
This is a D-I release management problem and should IMO not be fixed any
other way.
I agree with you; this shouldn't be fixed on udev but a new installer
version to be released.

Hello,
We have uploaded a parted 2.3 package (with the required changes
backported) to sid and would be nice if you could do a new test using
the daily snapshot of d-i and let us know if it works or not.

Hello,
I've tryed to reproduce this bug using Parted 2.2-7 and it works fine.
Can you check if you can still reproduce it?

There's not; please commit if you can.

Not really; 80 or 90mb can be a big difference on this case. So
there're cases it will be important. What we need to discuss is if it
ought or not to be supported by d-i.
I think it could have a preseed option for it and do it so it is
easier for 'short-on-disk' devices to work.

time would not hurt you, indeed.
Then basically it could be always done (and disabled by a preseeding
option if needed).

is much less.
I believe it would not be very hard. We would have to add code to
apt-install, and to the udeb handling the queue updated by apt-install
before base-installer is exeucted. No need to update all those
calling apt-install for this.
Agreed as well.

I fully agree with you and I do it every time I finish an install so
it does looks like the logical thing to do is to move it to d-i :)
