Sorry for not giving the full info. It does not crash after just
launching the app. It crashes after loading the subtitle file (.srt) .
The .srt file is usually the same name as the Video file in the same
directory. Now I do not know whether it tries to load the video file
or not.

When I'm uninstalling a package containing and older kernel version, the prerm
scripts appropriately call DKMS to uninstall all of the modules built for that
kernel version. While doing so, DKMS takes the time to run depmod after
what still
needed to be preseeded, and the closest I was aware of to that would be
to turn up debugging, and then trawl through the resulting log, but I've
not been trying it recently, so perhaps there's a better way these days.
