php functions that access files/paths and not reset to the root path / as it

Yes, I can also confim the problem with logging to the _file_ sys-syslog in
razor-home. Seems the problems from #262765 exist again and the patches I
filed are not applied but still necessary (seems that upstream doesn't care
about logging for the last few releases).
