I just tried to reproduce this bug, but can't. Steps taken:
$ apt-get source python-elementtree
$ cd elementtree-1.2.6
$ fakeroot dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -sd
$ dpkg -c ../python-elementtree-doc_1.2.6-9_all.deb|grep pyc
$ dpkg -c ../python-elementtr

Debian menu files are under /usr/share/menu these days. But it's
not there too.
