Which video card do you have? If it's a ATI r300 card, this is related to
#390271: compiz: unusable (very very slow) with r300
There is still no resolution to this yet.

just finished 0.1.4. I am awaiting a DD to upload 0.1.3 to experimental then
0.1.4 shortly after as the changes were minimal to fix.

This code is dead. Mesa upstream removed this a long time ago. I believe
dri_client is now the libdrm library
which we should be using. I have built Mesa without the patch and it works
fine.
Please consider removing this dead code.
