I've tried to check this with plugins loaded and after that I've turned them off (one by one) and the results were still the same. I don't think it has something to do with plugins. And yes, it does happen just by opening IM and multiple contact bookmarks. Even without opening any contact window it occupies ~50MB which I is still too much for pidgin.
