http://kmuto.jp/debian/d-i/
works as a charm on the Dell R620 I've tried it on.

I'm seeing the same bug, using the Wheezy package on a Squeeze system.
Manually fixing the symlink seems to work well, I can then use Solr with Jetty.

Observe that subject appears as 'Quotes on the edges'
Using update, add quotes back on the subject.
Observe that changes are not applied, and no history is created.
