The nevernote / nixnote upstream has dropped java implementation.
Instead, they began the development of nixnote2 and implemented in Qt / C++.
Upstream git repo can be found on GitHub [1].

The implementation is correct.
If in any doubt, build for deb from source once and see if there is any
-fstack-protector-strong in cc command line arguments. Examine the binary
with hardening check tool and see if all hardening flags are on.

It's pretty clear that this problem was introduced in RFS procedure
[0]. Seems that it is not a good solution and should be reverted.
The mentor in RFS procedure was worried about *fixed* password in
conffile [1], and the solution was to use apg in postinst script [0].

I noticed an update of version 6.1.2 to unstable; however, the
Simplfied Chinese translation files are still not included in the deb
file (as can be seen in
https://packages.debian.org/sid/all/eric/filelist), and the source
tarball list does not show zh_CN translations. So this bug should be
reopen
