With UXA enabled, I'm having problems when logging out of KDE (I haven't tried
this with GNOME/XFCE + GDM). If I'm lucky, it drops me down to a console, and

When SMPlayer is used for full-screen video playback in KDE4 with desktop
effects enabled, the playback controls (Play, Start, etc.) do not become
visible. Clicking the area where the controls should be still performs the
appropriate actions,
