I've created there comment with bug description and link to this page.
Hope they will help, as such bug in such essential applications like fvwm2/3
in stable repo -- not good sign.

I added this flag to configure options, after "make clean' with source code
with "xthread_fix.patch" applied
./configure --prefix=/usr/local --enable-mandoc --disable-thread-safety-constructor
then build it and

Thank you for the tip about "xthread_fix.patch". After downloading fvwm 2 source code and applying this patch to it manually and installing to /usr/local, with removing fvwm deb package, FVWM icons are displayed correctly after fullscreen/restart and I don't experience crashing too, it seems. But
The issue is also present in debian 12 fvwm3 package as well, icons are disappearing when switching fullscreen mode/restart fvwm.
As a workaround I used this Shift+Super+R keybinding:
Key R A S4 Recapture
Then icons are appearing again.
